URGENT PLS! Need to Re-apply E2 to Change Employer?

Hi,

I am currently on E2 visa working for one company here in the US. My current visa is still good until 3yrs from now. Recently, another company who is also E2 qualified wants to hire me.

My questions are:
1. The new company wants me to fillup DS-156 to reapply for a new E2 visa w/o the knowledge of my current employer. Is there a risk of being denied on this new application? If denied, will it nullify my current visa?

2. Is it possible to just switch my E2 to the new employer just like what they usually do to H1b holders?

Please advise if you have better ideas.
