My friend, who got admission from one univ., but is still waiting for the approval of F2->F1, asked me to be her sponsor for her study in one univ. She got a letter from INS, as a response of her application of F2->F1, asking most recent bank transcation or a sponsorship from her friend, relative, or someone else. Since she does not have money in her account at this time, she preferred asking me to be her sponsor. But she will transfer her money from her home country here soon. But this can delay her status change.
Before I make decision, I have to extremely seriously figure out the following questions:
1. what is my liability if I sign the form?
2. What potential risk there will be?
3. Am I the best person to be sponsor, she has relative in US.
4. Is there other way to respond INS's asking for further evidence (RFE)?
Please do me a favor by answering above questions in details. By the way, I am not permanent resident yet, I am working on a H1B basis.
