I landed in Canada through Buffalo in February 2000 right after I submitted my I-485. I went in fine. I had a brand new advance parole. On my way back the US checkpoint guy asked me what I was doing in Canada (apparently after seeing no visa for Canada). I realized that I would not be able to get away by lying. I told him that I went to land there. He sent me upstairs and about 5/6 officers spoke with me for 2 hours. I told them that I had read different guidelines and I spoke with a US Immigration Information Officer whom I asked if I had a Canadian immigration and I go land there with an advance parole will that create any problems for my Adjustment of Status application. Her answer was, "Sir our decision is not based on what you do in another country." The officers at the border could not come up with a decision. Finally they called somewhere and told me, “You are ok to enter for now, but once you have your US greencard, you have to give up the other one." I said that would be fine. Right after that I went to India and on my way back to the US, immigration at Dulles airport asked me the same questions after they pulled up my records (I saw the people at the dorder entered it in my records) and said the same thing. Recently I went for my greencard interview. After everything went fine the officer told me that I had too much papers in my files, she needed some more time to review them and she would let me know within 30 to 60 days. Now that my greencard is so uncertain, I would like to ask you guys if things don\'t work out on the US side can I ot rather how can I go back to Canada and live there?
