urgent please help

Hi ......
i posted the same message in Jan tracker........but may be that all guys are all set ...........but i am not .........still i am waiting please help me and guide me......
i just come to know about this forums.... i dont know anything about this processes.............
if i knew this before it would really help/............
i filed my Adjestment of status in january ..
i hired a lawer because.. i wanted to go india (by advanced parole) during the process..
he applied my AOS, and EAD in january in NY..........
he didnt apply advanced parole because he told me u can not apply advanced parole before getting EAD.........
so we applied on 19th jan 03,,
we got one small piece of paper showing one number ending with #* on 23rd jan 03, on that square paper only few lines are written with aknolodge of form fees.........
1> i dont know about notice date and all....
would anyone please let me know how can i check the status
i tried the number i have on that recipt..... but it didnt work.......... by which number i can get my status check??
--------as its too long now i asked my lawer and finally he agreed to apply for advanced parole........ also it will be 90 days of application on this april24 so i am going for temp EAD at local INS office at NY... also as i saw some of people are getting AP at ins office directly....
2> instad of applying for advanced parole by mail.... can i just go to ins and apply there personally for it and get the AP............ is this possible,,,,,
3> if i apply for AP by mail now..........how long does it take
4> if i apply for AP by mail ........still i can go to ins office and ask for it while i go for my EAD card>>


guys sorry for so many questions..........
but i am totally lost now,,,,,,,,, and i dont know what to do.....
and i am now stucked with a fool lawer .....................
i am very new with this ins tracking and all ........

Regarding AP

Hi,
AP has taken around 30 days for approval by mail For me and my friends.

But If you personally over there. ANd show that u need AP soon, they can give you a letter within 5 days. But it varies depend on service centre.

AP took over 60 days for me in Dec. But my friends got it earlier.
It depends, i guess. but mostly you should get it in 30-45 days.

Your Tracking # should be a 13 digit character (for VSC, something like EAC02.....)and can be checked at
https://egov.immigration.gov/graphics/cris/jsps/index.jsp?textFlag=N

Some local offices do give AP on same day depending if you have an emergency.
But, i heard that is stopped(Boston used to).
So check your local center's services at
http://www.immigration.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/index.htm
You could also try calling up the Service center and sy that it's an emergency.
(if you can get through to them, I did this after hours spent redialing and got thru 1 lucky day)
