Hello Everyone. I landed in Canada in November 2005, stayed for a month, got my PR and SIN cards and went back to my home country. After that I never visited Canada nor filed any taxes there.

Now I am in US on a L1 visa. My visa expired in Feb 2007, but I have petition extension papers with the new I94 valid till March 2009. I live in Seattle and have to travel to Vancouver by road for a day this weekend. Following are my questions...

1. Will I be asked by the Canadian immigration officer why I didnt stay in Canada after I got my PR? What is a good reason that they would buy?.
2. Will I need any additional documents or anything besides my PR card to enter Canada?
3. Will I have any problems re-entering US because my visa stamp in my passport is expired (I have valid petition extension papers)?

I request you to kindly share your experience in this kind of a situation. Please advice.

1) You can be asked as to why you did not stay back.. You can decide on a best answer that you may think based on your case. However, you can very well say that you had a job outside Canada that you had to continue and really could not find any in Canada that time.
2) You do not need any additional details except for your passport and PR
3)Yes, you need to have your US visa stamped before entering to US again

I am not an attorney and these are my opinions based on my experience. So you can consult an attorney if you want to know if there is any alternative.
