Hi
My husband and I efiled our EAD renewal on Feb 18,2005 at VSC. At that time , instead of getting the 1-800 number to call ASC to schedule appoinment , we got a message saying : Do not self-schedule appointment with your ASC- you will get a receipt with the appointment details in the mail. '

Its been more than a month and our EAD expires in May. On calling the NBC, they always say we should just wait. I am wondering if we could just say we are calling for an appointment and not mention this message to them , and get the appointment, because we do have the receipt number and original application form. The other problem is our fingerprint code is blank , and so we are totally confused. We realise now this efiling was a big mistake. Our ASC was Newark.. we are very confused. Please help!!!

Thanks
SG

I am in the same situation. got confused for sometime and called NSC. They never saw this kind of message. But my attorney said it is right to wait or send a letter about the situation. So i wrote the letter and got RFE this morning. The RFE must be for ASC appointment[i believe]. I am thinking since my EAD is expiring on March 23rd, they might have sent the RFE for biometrics immediately. I will update in cpl of days what exactly the RFE is.

Please do update us - also what did you write in the letter and to whom did you send it ?

Thanks for replying !

dear sir,
My online confirmation receipt says 'dont schedule..blahblah'. Recently i recieved 'Notice of action' which does not talk about 'appointment date'. If i am going to receive another letter for 'appointment', please ignore this letter else i want to bring this situation to your notice.

That's all

Just updating - we call the NSC number and took an appointment without mentioning we have to wait for this notice. Its worth a shot - we plan to go and see if they will indeed do the fingerprinting. I will update back if successful.

Thanks
SG

Go ahead and take an appointment

My case is in TSC but I am sure it works the same everywhere. After online filing ( after 2 days. do not wait for the RFE !! ) , call the 1-800 number and get an appointment for Biometrics, mention that you filed 765 ONLINE. There will be no problem in getting a date. The representative will ask you to carry 1 photo-id, 2 copies of Receipt Notice and 2 copies of 765-Application. I took 2 copies of the online confirmation receipt and the application. When asked by the front desk at the ASC just tell them that you havenot yet recieved the Receipt Notice.
Remember you have to ask for Biometrics Code 2 ( for my 2nd EAD the staff did not know, the supervisor corrected her).
After the Biometrics, they will simply Intial and stamp the copy of the online confirmation receipt and return it to you. They do not keep any copy of the document, they do manually log the details (your receipt number, A#, etc) as well as manually.

In online cases, I have noticed that you do not get a fringerprint/biometrics notice, you get a RFE. So go ahead and schedule an appointment at the earliest.

Well this was my experience at TSC.

I have a similar experience. My case is also with TSC. While I knew I was going to have to make a biometrics app at a local ASC, I totally forgot about it. A month after my e-filing I received a RFE about the biometrics. I called the 1-800# to make an app as stated in the notice. When I called, the representative made sure that I was supposed to call them to make an app (rather than making an app by Infopass). Once I made clear my RFE said I should call them, it only took me a minute to make an app.

I'm now thinking paper filing is better than e-filing. My previous i765 filing was by paper and I recall it was much quicker. If I have to renew my EAD again (though I hope not because the current application is already for my 3rd!), I will do paper filing.

After a long wait for my RFE in mail, i received the letter on Saturday. The RFE is for Biometrics. I completed the e-picture, finger print this morning.

Thanks for keeping us posted. We ignored the waiting for the notice bit and called and made an appointment for April 9 - this Sat. Lets see if they agree to do it for us. If not atleast we would have tried. Will post again.

i dont think they will stop you. take the confirmation number and the id. also the e-filed confirmation. Just talk bold. Everything will be alright.
good luck

Copy of I-765 Application

Due to some Technical issues neither I could get the print out of I-765/I-131 application nor I could save it while filing I-765/I-131 online. But I received the Notice from Service Center. What will happen if I schedule an appointment by calling 1-800 number with nearest ASc and not carrying the copy of I-765 Application form? Please advice.

We just went ahead and did our biometrics code 2 , even though BCIS never sent us anything. I guess we should have done it before, instead of listening to the 'DO NOT SELF SCHEDULE' message on our efiled EAD. Just a note for future for people who efile and get this message.

Final update - taking everyone's advice despite the efiled EAD form asking us to wait, we made the fingerprinting appmt and went and did it on April 9th. Today we got an email saying our EAD's were approved on April 11th.
Thanks for everyone's help.

mine is also approved today April 14th. Sounds like the confirmation receipt is misguiding people and keeping them in waiting for the Biometrics RFE. Gupta you took a bold step. congrats.
