Folks,
I got my naturalization certificate recently; and I applied for a passport middle of last week (expedited). I submitted my original naturalization certificate with it. I have an urgent issue for which I need to travel to India ASAP. What should I do now? Is there a way to get the passport in person? I know that there are passport agency offices where they cater to people traveling in 2 weeks. I live in NJ so I can got to New York. However, since I have already submitted my naturalization certificate what should I do? Is there ANY way to get the passport within the next day in my case?

Please let me know

thanks

AFAIK it should be possible. Contact passport agency of the department of state and explain your situation. They might upgrade your processing and schedule you to come in person for emergency processing. You should have paid ticket itinerary to prove your imminent travel. But talk/check with them first.

My understanding is you can probably sort this out fairly easily by calling the passport agency customer service number. Unlike USCIS, they are reputed to be quite helpful.
