My daughter sent document in INS for status adjustment (refugee) one year ago. Few months later (in January)she received authorization for work with alien number different from the number in her application for status adjustment and form I-94. Just in April she received receipt from INS where her alien number was changed also. She was not invited for finger prints and couldn\'t get any information about her file status from Nebraska center. Moreover, 2 months ago she applied for financial aid as a student of university. And INS still didn\'t respond for FAFSA request to confirm her status. We found that her first name in application and INS receipt has difference in one letter comparing with her name spelling in I-94 ("Viktoria" and "Viktoriya"
. Maybe it is the reason why INS changed alien number? We don\'t know if her case is in progress or not because of this kind of mistake. Had anybody similar problem? What do you think we have to do now?
