Urgent Please.. Can Somebody tell Difference Between form I765 and I668 A

Hello All,
I have just been offered a government job and one of thier eligibility criteria is the requirements based on the I9 form or as mentioned in the document below.

I am in 2nd EAD and awaiting 485 approval. I did mention to the agency that I am in EAD and so cannot join them unles I do a change of employment like AC 21 and my new job description per the offer is also slighlty different than what I do. But the government HR keeps saying that I might work for them in EAD since they think that EAD is the employment authorization card like form I 688 A.
However my understanding was that EAD is actually form I 765 so how can it be same as I 688A or I 688B.The government agency thinks that I can join based on the above assumption. Can somebody me help in this regard and if it is really same then can I join the agency.
Any help is appreciated

I-688 is not in use now. You can join with EAD( It is I-766 I think).
You can produce employement letter for AC-21 purpose. This can be done later. Read the AC-21 forum.
