Hi, have an urgent question here.

My interview is in two weeks in LA. Do they still stamp your passport? Do they take away your EAD? I will start a new job the very next day. So if they take away my EAD and don't stamp my passport, as some DOs don't anymore these days, i will risk not producing valid document for my new job the very next day. Should I worry?

Many many thanks!!

Just tell them that you need the EAD for work else ask them to stamp your passport..which is def better... :p...

IF you are approved, the EAD is of no use to you as you are already a permanent resident. In this case, explain your situation and let the officer know that you need a stamp on your passport for employment.

IF you are not approved, you may continue to use your EAD while waiting for your approval.

On a side note... If you are starting your job a day after the interview, you probably would have already finished all the HR related paperwork with your future employer. You would have showed your EAD and filled I-9. If this is the case, then dont worry, HR wont bother you as you already convinced them of your employment eligibility. Start your work, continue till you get your GC, file another I-9 after you show your new GC to the HR and you are all set.

Hi, Ari4u,
Thank you very much for your info. you are always very helpful.
I think i will ask the officer to stamp my passport. I am literally starting a new job the next day, and paperwork will be done the next day too. I could ask the HR to start paperwork early, but I hesitate to do that as i am afraid the HR wouldn't know all the immigration stuff and start to doubt my work authorization status... thanks!

The form I-9 recognizes the EAD. Your HR should know about it.
