Urgent: Packet 3 to NVC sent without DS-2001 form

The NVC does not ask for this form. I have referred to the
Packet 3 and it is not part of it.
However my attorney made me fill this, for all applicants.
So, I am assuming that they will send it out along with DS 230 Part I.
I think , in cases where it is sent, it is out of the old practice and not because NVC needs it now.
It is my personal opinion that, it is alright even if the form is not sent. I will pose this queston to my attorney and post an update.

The DS 2001 is no longer requested after October 1, 2002. It has been replaced with the STD (December 2001) which should be located in his Packet III. The STD mainly works as the DS 2001, but it is merely for the applicant's reference and doesn't require a signature. We still send the DS 2001 mainly out of habit, and I like to send just for reference. If the NVC does want the form, they will send him a letter stating he should complete the enclosed DS 2001 and return it to them once completed. However, it is highly unlikely that this will happen.

Thanks for confriming the DS-2001 form issue with your attorney and posting it on the forum. I did some research last night and found that other CP candidtaes in near past also didn't send DS-2001 (instructions for immigrant visa applicants).

I also had similar question so I called NVC in last week of December. They said that only document thay need back from packet-3 is DS-230 Part I. OF-169 has became "Information Only" and other docs are also not required.
After that I confirmed same with Mumbai Consualte and they said that only doc they will need is DS-230 Part I from Packet -3 .
I sent docs as per these conversation and now I have IV call from Mumabi in march (as per consulate E-mail).

Did you send packet 3 (DS-231 Part 1) to NVC-Portsmouth or directly to US embassy in Mumbai, India?
How come you already have an interview date for March, 03. I thought the interview list for March' 03 will be published in Feb only?

My case is little messed up. I did not receive P-3 from NVC so I followed up and then found out from NVC that my case has already been generated by Mumbai Consulate. Called up Mumbai Consulate and they said just send in DS-230 Part I and that should be it. Re-Confirmed with NVC, same answer.
Sent in DS-230 Part I, and they send me an e-mail stating I will be scheduled for March inetrview. You are right, I wouldn't know exact date till Feb 15th list comes out.
The point was, just sending in DS-230 Part - I, was accepted by consulate.
