I have a few questions regarding the H1B quota:
1. I have done my masters in US, and my OPT is expiring this May 2006, and after that I have 2 month grace period. So it would be great if you can help me out on what exactly is the proper procedure to maintain status in United States.
2. If I apply for H1B visa in April, then will I need to apply in normal processing or premium processing as anyways I can start working from October?
3. Also, when I apply for change of status along with the H1B application, will I need to show that I maintain legal status in US till Oct 1 (the starting day of H1B)?
4. That is, do I need to get another I-20 in the meantime, to fill up the gap between July and Oct, or else is it not required. I mean that if I just apply for H1B is it ok, because it appears that we need to be on some sort of status all the time.
5. Any suggestions from you are most welcome. My main query is about maintaining my status, as I don’t want to go out of status which would come into picture when I go for the stamping of my visa.
