Hi,

My parents visa appt. is next week in Chennai. I have sent them all the papers except bank account verification letters since they did not reach me in time. But I have already sent them my bank statements for the past 6 months.

My question is do my parents need to carry the original letters from the banks or can I scan or fax them a copy. I am worried if there will be any delay in the documents reaching them.

If a copy is fine then I am thinking of scanning and emailing the letters so that they can take a print out of it.

Thanks for your help.

Copies will do

Copies will do. Only following 5 items should be handed over to VO.

Passport + Visa Fee Receipt
VISA Interview Confirmation Letter 1 Page
DS-156 Non Immigrant Visa Application 2 Pages
Recent Photographs (50mm x 50mm)
Demand Draft for Issuance Fee Rs.2,400

My MIL carried the following docs in a seperate file. VO asked for it at the end of the interview and returned it after a glance.

Letter to Consulate 1 Page
I-134 Affidavit of Support 2 Pages
Son-in-law Green Card Copy 2 Pages
Son-in-law Employment Verification Letter 1 Page
Son-in-law Bank Account Statement
Son-in-law Paystub
Son-in-law 2004 & 2005 W2
Son-in-law Passport Copy 19 Pages
Marriage Certificate 1 Page
Daughter - Data of Birth Affidavit 2 pages
Daughter Green Card Copy 2 Pages
Daughter Passport 19 Pages
Letter to Mother-in-law to Visit USA 1 Page

Following questions were asked to MIL and to my friend's Mom.

Why are you going?
Who is there ?
What are you doing here ?
How many kids you have, where are they ?

VO granted visa for my mil. And rejected for my friend's mom. Both attended interview on different dates.

prepare them well for the interview.. best of luck..

Thanks asnssf.

My parents were here twice before but they got only 6 months and 1year validity before. They have never over stayed. But on both the occasions they were sponsered by my sister and this is the first time I am sponsering. I am the only son. I am really worried since I have seen a few posts where the VO has rejected because of this reason.

4 months

I told her to ask only 4 months to the VO. She has got 10 years, I think people above 55 get 10 years visa.
