Urgent need for OPT

Hey all,
I applied for OPT on the 10th of dec...recipt date of 14th feb, got a job but they want me to join before 5th may, otherwise I will loose the job.
Did anyone apply for OPT in the month of Jan-Feb, 2003 and got their OPT?

Any suggestions?

I think you can begin to work without actual enployment authorization if you have documentary proof that you have applied for such a document. Check with the HR department of your prospective employer. You may be asked to show the OPT receipt notice when you begin employment.

Also you will have 3 months to produce the employment authorization document/OPT (whatever that you get form BCIS) after you begin working. If you join in May, you will have until August to get the EAD document and show it to HR.
