Urgent..Mumbai Consulate: Does representative need to take passport?

Hi,

1) If your representative is going to take the appiointment on someone's behalf, do they need to take applicant's passport? or just copy wud do?

2) Can one person take two appointments: more specifically, take appointment for herself and also for spouse? Both for H1B stamping.

Pls reply w/ any info...
