Hi there,
I'm in a difficult situation and I need help. I work for the government as a contractor and I'm at the end of my OPT. Apparently, the contracting company has filed for my H1B, but I won't get it until the next fiscal year (October). My OPT expires in June. So, here are my questions:
1) IF they HAVE filed with USCIS for the H1B, can I stay in the country, that is, would I still be in legal status, since the application is pending?
2) If they HAVE NOT filed, I have to try and continue to be on F1 until they get me on H1B. I heard I can take a language course or a test-prep course from Kaplan and get the I-20 for as long as the classes last, is that true? Can I continue on F1 for taking a test-prep course? Does Kaplan offer such course? Do language schools offer such courses?
Because I only have a month to get things done, I'd appreciate if anyone could help me!!!!
Thanks,
