URGENT L1A "out of status" issue - company divested

I really hope somebody can help me out with this one. I'm based in Seattle on an L1A visa for a large European company. The company has divested it's North American business, but retaining an 11% stake, this transaction is due to complete next week.

Our HR people told us a few weeks ago that there wouldn't be a problem with regards to me being here, now they have changed their story and are saying there is one.

If I'm on an L1A and they sell off the US business, what options and problems do I face? I'm told not to worry, that they are sorting it out but I want to be confident that all the right things are being done? Can somebody tell me what the possible solutions might be? Things to explore?

Anybody who can supply even a little help, I would really appreciate it!

Assuming that your company would continue to employ you (and that is a big assumption btw), you will have to find out more details regarding what the European company is really doing by "divesting" its stake in the US. Is the US company being spun off as a new company on its own? If you have this background, you will be able to assess the situation better and think about alternatives.

Thanks,
Basically it's a large European IT firm, I'm still employed by the European arm of the business, I have a global role and the intention is to keep me in Seattle doing the job I'm already doing, so no problem with the question of them still employing me.

The US Company has been sold to another US IT company, to create a single larger one. The old company name is going but we (the european parent) is retaining an 11% stake in the new one..

Apparantly our lawyers are looking into it at the moment, but I'm still edgy and nervous as to what it means.. I pretty much have a life in the US now, living with my girlfriend and a big group of friends, im not sure i could take being pushed back overseas without any notice for what could be months, or for good. :(

If anyone can offer some thoughts on what I might have to go through, or what my options might be I'd love to hear them.
