I am in invalid F-1 status currently, because even though my visa is valid till 2008 my I-20 expired... I was to file for reinstatement but could not get the funds together in time. So, it went past the grace period. Ive been looking at different ways to get back into status but i had problems with accomodation and finances. I am finally exhausted from working long-odd hours and I do not want to marry a US citizen just for a visa/greencard. So Ill be leaving the country in a few days.
A friend informed me that I should join Kaplan and then try to apply for a H1 after getting back in status as I already have a Bachelor's degree from my home country. I have a few questions:
My visa is valid till 2008 for a university which I cannot attend now, So If I apply to Kaplan would they issue me a new I-20 or would they decline since its been months past the grace period ?
Has any one applied with similar conditions ? What documents would I require ?
How long would the process take if it is feasible ?
