hi all,

found this site while searching for information relating to DV 2009. I find the information helpul and decided to register.
My wife got her KCC mail in Nigeria on 12th may. I am currently out of the country and will have to fill part of the forms. what are my options. i have asked her to complete her part and send the package to me, i intend to send the documents to KCC after completing my part, on her behalf.
please is it acceptable to post the forms to KCC from another country other than where the selectee reside.
the second question relate to a self adhesive return address label which the accompanied documents suggest should be part of the post from KCC. My wife did not see such things , does any one knows if its normally included, what are the implications of not having it and what should we do in respect to this.

Hi Samko,
Congratulations to you and your wife. Please consider glancing through some of the other threads. Your questions will be answered fully. You will see what others have done in diffent cases, learn your options and know how to proceed. For CP (Consular Processing) the Nigeria 2007,2008 threads are very informative.

It does not matter from which country you mail the forms. If your wife can't find the address label (it is very small), you can always just write the address on it yourself.

thanks, but further clarifications

hi,

Thanks for the responses, they have been quite helpful.
still however have further clarifications.
my wife number is 2009AF00001*** . i am presently in Germany and she will be joining me in September. when do you think our interview will be?
we have filled Lagos as the consulate, but thinking about the stress and expenses of the family travelling to Nigeria just for the interview ,is making me having a rethink about choosing America Consulate in Germany. We will be in Germany however till may 30th 2009. Can anyone please advise me. And in case we choose to change the venue, can one use tippex to correct or just cross and re-write
Further , does doing the interview else where than the native country jeopardize ones chance of winning the visa.?
Is it possible to seek advice from KCC for this?
thanks
samko

If you compare your number with the cutoff numers on the visa bulletin, you can see, that you have a very low number for Nigeria. If you would have been in DV2008, you would have had your interview in October 2007. However, you never really know how fast the numbers will proceed, particularly in Nigeria. Since you will be in Germany until the end of May, I would say it would be best for you to change the interview place to Frankfurt, Germany. It does not have a negative effect on your visa application if you do the interview there, since you're currently living in Germany.
Don't use tippex to correct the forms. Search for them online and use those forms (that's allowed).

thanks Igmu

hi,

thanks,
my wife is the selectee and she is in Nigeria now,she has never lived in Germany, she will only join me in September ending/early October , will it be acceptable if she choose germany even though she is not presently here.
then about how many weeks before the interview do one get the letter, then how many weeks before the interview do one have to do the medical examinations. this facts will help to finally make up my mind.
thanks greatly
cheers

Was it planned before that your wife will join you in Germany? I don't think it is a problem, as long as you guys will really be living in Germany at the time of the interview.
The invitation to the interview usually arrives within 2 and 6weeks prior to the interview. However, as soon as you see your number current in the advanced notification section of the visa bulletin, you can contact KCC and they will tell you the interview date. To give you an idea about the time frame: the cutoff numbers for October will be in the advanced notification section of the September bulletin which will be out around August 15th).
In general, the medical is usually done 1 or 2weeks prior to the interview. In Germany, you also have the possibility to do it right after the interview.
