I am an US permanent resident (green card holder). I went on a short business trip abroad and returned yesterday. (Port of Entry: Washington Dulles airport).
The arrival date stamped on my passport is incorrect (January 4th instead of February 4th). I realized this only later after I had already boarded my connecting flight.
What is the procedure to correct the date stamp? I am worried this may cause some confusion when I apply for naturalization since the application asks for exact departure and arrival dates for any trips in last 5 years.
Can I get the entry stamp corrected at the local INS office or do I need to go back to Washington airport and explain the situation to some officer there? I have all my airline boarding pass stubs.
Thanks!
