URGENT: Incorrect arrival date stamped on passport

I am an US permanent resident (green card holder). I went on a short business trip abroad and returned yesterday. (Port of Entry: Washington Dulles airport).

The arrival date stamped on my passport is incorrect (January 4th instead of February 4th). I realized this only later after I had already boarded my connecting flight.

What is the procedure to correct the date stamp? I am worried this may cause some confusion when I apply for naturalization since the application asks for exact departure and arrival dates for any trips in last 5 years.

Can I get the entry stamp corrected at the local INS office or do I need to go back to Washington airport and explain the situation to some officer there? I have all my airline boarding pass stubs.

Thanks!

hi
what is the norm for a US permanent resident when one enters US

i thought they just scan the GC and that has info.
not stamp in ur passport........

for frequent travellers this would mean a lot of stamps.............

anybody had any experience

If POE is by land (my experience from Canada) no stamps or passport needed.

For airport, the immigration officers will ask for your passport. Show the green card only (as the law allows) and they'll still ask for it! Anyways, they will place stamp in your passport. My two experiences were at Cleveland and LAX.
