Urgent: I-140 questions

Hello folks,
I am trying to refile my NIW, and I am having a couple of questions about filling out the form:
1) Since I was assigned a A# during my first file of my NIW in 2004, so should I fill this A# in the new I-140?
2) I went back to China last summer, so should I fill the Date of Arrival as the date I entered after this trip?
3) For Part 4, item 6 "Has any immigrant visa petition ever been filed by or on behalf of this person". Since I did file one in 2004 and got denied, so should I fill "Yes" here, and attach a sheet of paper explain my previous petition status, such as when I filed, and when it was denied. Currently, I am appealing it, and decide to refile. Would the previous denial impact the decision on my current file?
any help and information would be highly appreciated. It is really a painful process.
good night!

good afternoon everyone. I wonder can anybody reply my question? I know these questions might seem stupid, but I really need your advice.
thanks in advance!

thanks very much,NIW-Nov 04. Your answers do clarify the important things for me.
about the third question, do you mean that I should explain that I have previously filed the NIW, but got denied and now I am filing in the same category. Do I need to explain why I was denied or simply state the status.
As for the confusion that might result from refile and appeal in the same category, can you help provide a little bit more explanation. Since I have already submitted my appeal about five months ago, so I cannot do much but wait.
it was really a frustrating experince to get denial letter from the CIS.

I have similar experience. My first NIW-140 filed in June 2003 has got denied in Dec 2004. I also felt very frustrated. But at that time I just decided to refile a new NIW-140 without appealing. And also I just left Part 4, Item 6 empty, neither "yes" nor "no". Ridiculously in May 2005, the denied NIW got re-opened and approved by VSC itself. And then, the new NIW-140 was also approved in July 2005. So I have two approved NIW-140 petitions. I tried to retain the earlier PD for my pending 485 last Dec and it will be current from May 1. Hope it will help you. Good luck!

the reason why I want to apply to NIW again is because that 1) several of my friends who do the same type of job as me but with much less qualification were approved for NIW (they applied at the similar time frame as me) 2) I have most of materials ready for NIW so I guess it would be easiest to put them together for a NIW application.
Actually, I was wonder if I can mention the first reason above when explaining why I file again.

I am doing research in the field of engineering. The problem of engineering research is that our papers in general do not have much citation, so citation record cannot be used as good supporting evidence. It is the tough thing for me.
thanks a lot!

In EB1-EA, the comparison becomes even more stringent -- "comparison with your peers in your field in the world". You have to show proof that your are "extraordinary" in all three criterias relevant to your qualifications!
I suggest that you consult an experienced attorney with regard to the determination of which category you are most qualified. Also take a look at the AAO decisions on the USCIS website for both NIW and EB1-EA.

thanks very much for your elaborated discussion. This does clear my mind.
I will keep everybody posted for any progress.

about SOC

I have got one more question need help. In I-140, it is required to fill in the SOC code. My professional area is environmental engineering, so the code seems should be 17-2081. However, checking the description of job, I found that 17-2081 is corresponding works such as design and field work, but my work is focused on mathematical modeling, which seems match the engineering mathematics (15-2021). I wonder which one should I fill in?
thanks for any recommendations and help!
