Urgent Help--RFE Notice

I received a RFE notice today about I485. The information they need are my income tax return and W2 forms. In addition to those, they also need complete, legible copies of my initial (first) and last (most recent)pay vouchers issued to by EACH of my United Status employers.

I worked for 5 or 6 employers in the past ten years. I have not kept those pay vouchers. Are they going to deny my case if I couldn't provide the requested pay vouchers. Why do they need them? What should I do? Did anybody receive similar notices?

Any suggestions will be highly appreciated?

Thank you in advance

are you applying for adjustment of status via employment or family? the reason I ask is because I am not familiar with work green card requirements. my only suggestion is that you order tax transcripts for the last 3 years-those are accepted in place of w2s. you can order the transcripts from the IRS or you can order expedited IRS from accuverify.com. was a laywer helping you with your case?

Thanks, catjupp. I am applying adjustment of status via employment. I can locate the past 6 years (2000-2006) W2 forms and tax return, but I can not retrieve any things earlier than that. I wonder whether that will be efficient.

Dear Goodluck2007,

The reason USCIS is asking for the paychecks is simple: They want to confirm that you have maintained your legal status AND you have worked in your field of specialty over the last ten years of your stay in the U.S.

I also received a RFE that asked me to provide documents that could support my legal status since my first entry to the U.S. In addition, USCIS also asked for current emplyment verification letter.

I remember reading postings on the I-485 forum about RFEs that are very similar to or exactly the same as yours. Let me try to locate the threads tonight. If I found them, I would post the search results here.

In the meantime, you can also look for those threads in the I-485 Issues forum, via the "Search" mode, by typing in keywords like "RFE for paychecks". Take care!
