I have registered as a special registrant in 2002 and afterwards at least on four different occasions while leaving and entering US. Last time when i enter US after vacation , i registered again at airport , but did
not go for follow up interview as was told by immigration officer.
In Nov 2003 i applied for extension of my H1B, at least 50 days of my H1B expiration.
In june 2004 i got RFE (request for evidence ) from INS about special registration follow up interview which i missed due to info i got from immigration officer's.
i went to local ICE (immigration and customs enforcement) office to clear this matter, they told me two times that everything is fine, third time they put me on deportation proceedings
on charges of working as my h1b expired
( i told that my application is in processing).
Since then i have not heard any thing from ICE regarding my case. even though
i called them to check about when i will be getting some letter from ICE regarding my case, they said you will get it in mail and dont call us (ICE).
In the meantime i sent INS RFE explaining what happened at airport and my previous registrations.
Now i got my H1B extension approved.
i am worrying what should i do about ICE case since its been more than 4 months i have not heard any thing from them.
Could you please advise what i should do now?
