Urgent help needed with DS-156

Hi,

My parents are going for their interview on the 15th. I need urgent help with regards to their DS-156 forms.

I noticed that there were couple of issues with their DS-156 forms that I had prepared online and sent across to them.

Q. 20: I had put in N/A in this field for both my parents since my father is retired and my mother is a housewife. But when I look at the forms now the "N/A" text is missing.

Q. 29: "Have you ever been in the U.S.". I had checked the "YES" box in this case and provided the required information below it but now I see that the "YES" box is not checked.

Has anyone else seen this problem before. Can my parents hand-edit the forms.

Even if can I edit the form on Vfs website then I'll need to sign the form again and mail it over to my folks, for which I don't have enough time since they are going for their appt. on 15th.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi gc_void,

Q. 20: You don't need to worry about it. I myself have seen that N/A or None are usually omitted in the final printout of the DS-156 form. In fact, after you submit the application online, a message appears for all the N/A or None that were deleted.

Q. 29: There are two extensions to this question (When? and For how long?) If these fields are filled out and appear on the printout, they should be okay. I think they need to submit the application forms and other documents at the entrance where they can tell the person about the error and check the "yes" box.

Besides, if they have visited the US before and returned to India before their visa expired, they should not have any problem getting the visa this time. Their passports would also reflect this.

Hope this helps.

Similar situation

Hi,
My Inlaws are also are in similar situation. They too have their appointment on 15th.
Their DS156 printout also ommited some text on printout.
They called VFS center and they recommended this,
You can make changes/write with a pen. You should always give the correct and updated info on DS156 and 157.
There are more options.
You can take another printout with correct text, or you can attach a cover sheet with the corrections.
When you go for the interview let the guys on the counter know that you corrected the form and submit the correct form.

Inlaws got visitors visa

HI,
Corrected DS156 by hand.
Visitors visa was granted mother in law.
Mother in law's visa was rejected thrice earlier in 2004 without looking at any documents. She had gone thrice in a short span in 2004.
This time
They asked only basic questions like where do you work, what visa is your son in law and does your daughter work and purpose of visit.they reviewed ds156 and 157 and granted visa.
However my father in laws passport was duplicate passport as he lost the earlier one in Europe, though they agreed to issue visa, they returned his duplicate passport without visa, and have held his application for verification and will call him again. Once they call him, he will go again with the passport to get the visa stamped.

Did your wife sign on invitation letter.

As one of the other post syas their in-laws VISA got rejected b'cos sponser's wife did not sign.

My in laws are going for intereview on this Saturday. Please reply ASAP so that I can arrange for my wife's signeture on inviation letter.

Thannks,
