Urgent Help needed regarding USCIS response...

Hello friends,

I applied for a j-1 waiver based on No objection and got a favorable recommendation from Department of State 5 weeks back. I have received the copy. However I did not hear anything from USCIS. I called the number 18003755283 and spoke to a lady. She could not find my receipt number with all my details like last name, DOB. I wrote to USCIS with a copy of DOS letter but still my name is not in their data base. I have seen many members of the forum in similar situation posting this issue. So somebody please help me how to solve this case. Am in desperate need. Please help me...
 
The favorable recommendation letter should contain the case number. You can call the DOS to inquire about your case based on this number. It makes no sense that they could not find your case.
For the USCIS, obtaining the receipt number is tricky. Make sure you mention filing I-612 form with Vermont Service Center. The case number from DOS will not help you get it.
 
I am in the similar situation. I also applied for a j-1 waiver based on No objection and got a favorable recommendation from DOS about 4 weeks back. I am waiting for receipt number from USCIS. I called the USCIS number 18003755283 and spoke to a lady .She refused to give me the number and asked me to contact local USCIS office. Please let me know what i should do..............
 
Did you receive any thing from USCIS saying they have received your applcation. In the letter they are giving receipt number its written in clear cut letter and numbers.
If you dont have received anything from USCIS then call them and provide them as much as detail regarding your case they will help definately
I feel now a days DoS and USCIS are very fast in processing and I really appreicate. My case approved for J1 waiver NORI based Time Nov 2009 to June 2010.
