I got my H1-B extension approved by INS.
My old H1-B approval was valid till 01/30/2002.
But My new approval has valid dates from 01/30/2001 to 02/14/2003. SHould not I recv the approval from 01/30/2002 (instead 01/30/2002).

My 6-yr will be over in 02/14/2004. I think it\'s a mistake. Is it possible to get this corrected? What\'s the procedure?

It sounds to me as if either INS or your attorney (more likely the attorney) made a typographical error in the initial validity date.

What\'s the problem though? This typo will not have any effect on anything, particularly since this was an H-1 extension.

What is your reciept date?

SS01,
What is your reciept date? How long did it take to get your approval notice? I have been waiting since Dec27 and have luck so far...

Ask your attorney to check the petition

If the petition is correct then it is error of INS, then your lawyer need to call INS and talk to officer , they will check the petition and if it is their wrong they will issue a new approval with correct dates in 10 days. Actual procedure is attorney needs to fax them the problem for every two weeks , if they don\'t respond then call and try to talk to them.

So if it is the problem of INS they will issue a new approval.
