Urgent help needed about EAD

Hi, I need your kind help here:

I\'m in i485 pending, ND: 8/17/1999. My wife\'s first EAD expired Oct.12, but she never used it, she submitted the extension application on Sept.18 and still waiting for approve, but she got a job and the company wants her to work from tomorrow (Nov.8), my question is: can she work tomorrow? It\'s very hard for her to find this job and I really don\'t want to upset her by telling her that she cannot work.
BTW, her social security card shows "Invalid for work", does this matter?

You can work only when you have a valid H1 or EAD. If your wife works w/o EAD that will amount to illegal working and may land you/employer in problems. If you have the Receipt ( EAC#) ask your attorney whether she can work with the receipt.

If Employer don\'t have any problem she can start work. Because VSC issued the EAD from the same day when your old is going to be expired. I am very much positive that she will get her EAD in couple of weeks. It doesn\'t matter when you apply for the renewal. You can also do one thing. Take your receipt to local INS office and explain your problem, I hope they will issue you the EAD in one day. One of friend has the same problem he did the same thing.
