URGENT !! H1b Worker's URGENT need to travel to India!!

HI,
I started to work for a company 8 months back. Got H1b Visa approved in November 2005. I urgently need to go to India, Mumbai (for reasons of health of a family member). I know that there is emergency quota but is that only for people with URGENT need to travel to US?
Can I also apply in the emergency quota ? If Yes then are there any specific documents (Other than the standard) that I need to produce.

Hi,
I would suggest look for travelling across border to canada/mexico and getting stamping. Its pretty easy and the wait times are very less to get appointment compared to India. You can parallely explore these two options parallely, i.e. AFAIK theere is nothing wrong in taking appointments at both places and you can just attend at the one where you get the earliest. and cancel the other. Also you need to call and check with Indian consulate about your issue and get their feedback.
For canadian appointments go to www.nvars.com
For mexican appointments go to www.visa-usa.com.mx
For indian appointments I think it is www.vfs-usa.co.in
Also for appointments at canada, and mexico try at midnight when the software system refreshes with new set of dates. You can also check with Canadian embassy about preponing/emergency appointments.
Finally do check with your manager about possibility of working from home for sometime if you cannot get appointment soon...
