Hi,

My current H1-B (first three years) is valid until feb28-2003 and I-94 date is March10 -2003.

My employer has just filed the extension last week. They did not do it earlier as they wanted to show the costs in the current quarter.

My question are
1)whether there can be any issues as it it being filed so close to the expiry of the earlier one ?.

2) Also by paying an extra $1000 dollars can the process be expedited ? I heard that there was a INS " process expedition " fee guaranteeing a response in 15 days.

Thanks,

Nothing as such. Only if INS center takes a long time in approving it and you have to travel outside US.

Yes, That is called Premium Processing.

Thanks for your response I had another quick question :

If my extension approval does not come by feb 28th 2003 am I out of status ?

You can continue keep working.

Just make sure to check the status of your application on INS website once you (or your attorney)receives the recipt no
(Which is called LIN no). If the website says they mailed the approvel and if you have not receive it in timely manner, follow up on that.
