We have received I-485 approval letter on March 9th while we were abroad. We went to info pass to get the temporary Green Card stamp last week. But the officer told us that our physical cards were sent out on March 13th, 2007.However, we never received it. It got lost in the mail. We had to come back to Europe for the business trip, so we left the country right the way. But our lawyer just sent us an email saying that we shouldn’t go out of country cos we cannot return with our L1-A and L-2 visas since our green card have been issued.

Questions?
1) Can we return to states with our L1A and L2 visa (they expired March 2008), we did it last week; the immigration officer didn’t say anything and was very friendly.

2) How long does it take to reorder the card? We heard from one week to 6 months? Does someone have experience on this? Can you pay and ask INS to send it by FedEx or registered mail, cos our mail sometimes does got lost?

3) The airline forgot to take my husband’s I-94 this time, will that be problem? Can we do something about that? Like send it to INS?

We appreciate your helps.

I don't know whether you come back with your current status or not but if you lose your greencard for whatever reason, you will need to file I-90 (application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. You will have to submit a new fee, picture, and you must be fingerprinted. The time the processing time takes differs which service center handles your case. For examle, Nebraska Service Center is processing now applications recieved October 14 2006. You may check the link for more details: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/Processtimes.jsp?SeviceCenter=NSC

the process is not that easy. I have a friend who lost his greencard through the mail. For the last two years we have been trying to find one; still he has not recieved one; but his application is in the process. Good luck with your application; it would have been good if you had gotton your greencard through the mail; losing it is somewhat inconvenient and tedious process..
