Urgent-Father expired, need to go to India

I am an Indian with a British passport, who came to US on L1 visa last year.
The status of L1 visa got changed to H1B in October 2005.
My father expired yesterday and I have to go back to India as soon as possible.

I have 2 questions

1. Can the US embassy in Delhi deny me the H1B stamping stating that I have to go to US embassy in London?

2. I have about 5 years left on the visa and few of my colleagues here warned me that the US embassy in Delhi or London might deny stamping the visa, on the ground of intent to stay in US, while coming back

I would be extremely grateful if someone can help me in this matter as soon as possible

Sorry to hear about your father. Well, US embassy in Delhi or anywhere can deny your visa for whatever reason they want to give. H1B stamping is a gamble which everyone on H1 has to play so if you have to go, just go to India and ppear in consulate.

H1 cannot be rejected on ground of intent to stay in US, H1 is suppose to be dual-intent visa, so no what you are told is not true. I might be true for F1 or some other visa but not for H1.

sorry to hear that.

Don't worry as long as you all the papers, pay stubs etc, u will be fine.
may you have peace...

On the ground of intent to stay in US - they cannot deny, as H1B is Dual Intent Visa.

They can only deny on the basis of paperwork being not complete.
