To all O1 visa holders in this forum: I am in the US from jun 06 on an o1 visa with a visa stamp on my passport which is valid till April 2009. In Dec 06, I moved to a new job with a freh O1 visa. I have to travel outside USA in feb 07. My question is: Do I need a new visa stamp on my passport for my new O1? Or Can I travel with my old visa stamp and new approval notice along with the new employment letter and paystubs? I know H1 B visa holders can travel like this and my attorney says I "should" also be able to do so. Has anyone with an O1 visa travelled like this? Please share your experience so that I may plan accordingly. Do I reaqlly need to go for a fresh stamping or I can travel on my old visa stamp with my new approval notice. Thanks a lot.

I dont think you'll have a problem at all. As long as your on status. If you have extra time get the new stamp, but if not, is not a big deal, I mean you do have a valid visa til 2009, no problem at all.

The only thing to consider is that your old O1 visa is linked to your old employer and to a particular (old) approval notice #, which is what they will see when they swipe it at POE. It may not necessarily be a problem, especially if you lawyer thinks it won't be and if you trust him/her, just something to consider.

Thanks. That is the only thing which is worrying me thats why I was asking if someone had an experience travelling in a similar situation. Howver, I know, for sure, that H1B holders can do so and personally know people who have done so successfully, travelling on an old valid stamped H1B visa after transfering to a new employer and carrying all original papers of the transfer.
