Urgent ::::Corrections and mistakes on I-94

Hello experts and @nelsona,

I am a Canadian national currently working on TN status since April 2024 in Utah, USA.

I took a vacation outside of the USA and upon my return via JFK Airport, the CBP officer processed me and stamped my passport with the date of today (April 11, 2025) as the entry date, and a manual date (April 16, 2026) under the stamp, which relates to my first TN status.

I received my first TN status with my first company on April 17, 2023, which is valid until April 16, 2026. I then obtained a second TN status with my current company on April 28, 2024, which is valid until April 29, 2027.

After reviewing my passport, I noticed that the officer had entered incorrect dates related to my first company, which I no longer work for. I explained this to him and showed him the relevant page for my current TN status with the correct dates. He then manually corrected the dates in my passport before I proceeded to the baggage claim area.

After collecting my luggage and going outside to pick up a taxi, I felt uneasy and checked my I-94 at the waiting area using my phone. I discovered that the new I-94 displayed a reference number with incorrect dates (issue date: April 11, 2025, and TN valid until April 16, 2026). It seems that the officer did not update it electronically.

Now, my new I-94 shows that my TN status is valid only until April 2026, which is a shorter validity period than my previous status.

Since I have already left the customs area, I cannot re-enter to discuss this with the same officer.

JfK is so crowed airport and thousand of people were waiting for their turn to process themselves. This was first time at JFK airport and got that trouble.

I want guidance on how to address these discrepancies on my I-94.

I am confused about the following:

1. How do I correct these issues, and where should I go to fix them?
2. Can I continue to work with my current company while I resolve these discrepancies? If I continue working without fixing these issues, could it cause problems in the future?

Please advise me on the steps I should take. Thank you!

You can go to "Deferred Inspection Office" and fix the problem.
Thanks for your response. DIO is not located at Utah. I am going to Utah for my job. However DIO at JFK is closed now due to weekend and they are opened from Monday to Thursday only.

How can I fix them while I am in Utah?

During the process of fixing my situation, can I continue working with my current company? I think the CBP officer generates a new I-94 under the first company, but I'm not sure.

I have a question regarding traveling to and returning from the U.S. to resume my job.

In this case, does the CBP officer generate a new I-94 with updated dates each time when someone enters the U.S. for the second, third time, and so on? How does it work in 2nd entery into usa?

My case is different from yours. I found the mistake before the I-94 issued later expires. So I went to the office requesting them to change the expiration date to the correct date. They also update I-94 in the system.
Just my expeience. Your case may be different.

Have u found your mistake at the time TN application ( first entery of TN)?
If that entery was not 1st then did they stamp with dates etc on 2nd or 3rd entery etc to usa? Usually what CBP officer does with passport during 2nd and so on entries?
