URGENT CLARIFICATION: PCC for Chennai Consulate?

PCC requirement details sent along with our October'03 appointment letter states the following:

"
Indian Citizen Age 16 and Older Who Live Outside India:

Indian citizens age 16 and older who live outside of India should obtain a satement from the Indian Embassy or Consulate serving the area in which they are resiging confirming that they have no criminal record. They will also need to obtain a Police Clearance from the country in which they live ....."

I'm in process of getting PCC from Indian Consulate SF.

We are currently living in US, not lived in any other country. My question is, should we get Police Clearance from local US authorities per the later part of above requirement?

No separate police certificate is required form any US law enforcement authorities. The consulate will check with FBI and other agencies.
A police certificate from indian consulate in the US is sufficient.
