Urgent: B1 Extension Question

Hi,

I am currently on B1 Visa and my I-94 expires on 29-Aug-07. My company applied for a extension of stay for 3 more months and our over night courier reached USCIS Vermont Center on 23-Aug-07. I am not sure if I get any receipt number from USCIS before my I-94 expiry date(29-Aug-07). In case if I don't get my Receipt number back from USCIS before the expiry date, can I continue to stay in US? Is it going to create any problem for my future visits?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Regards,
Sudha

What are you doing in the US on a B1 visa that involves a company? You better not be working

But, you should have applied 45 days before the expiration date on your I-94. You are better off leaving the US if you don't want any problems with future visits.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I work for a Indian company and came to our head office in US for project meetings with the client. Thats why the company is involved. Last week only we came to know that my presence is required here for some more time for project meetings. thats why we have to extend.

Any inputs is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Sudha

Go to mexico or canada and come back the next day, with a letter from the company explaining why they need you. :p better than waiting for an extension filed late... the instructions CLEARLY say: We suggest you file 45 days before the expiration of your status.
