Respected sir,i am an international medical graduate
from india.I am currently staying with my sister and brother in law in
usa..i have passed my usmle step 1,step2 ck
,step2 cs exams.i am ECFMG certified in september 2007.currently i have
come to USA on B1/B2 visa to give my step 3 exam.I was given B1/B2
visa
for 3 months starting from october 15th 2007 to january 11th 2008 at
chennai usa embassy in india. .It is a single entry visa.but at port of
entry at the airport I was visa for 6 months starting from november
16th
2007 to may 16th 2008.iam planning to give my step 3 exam in january
2008.But i was given strict instructions at usa embassy in india to
return
back soon after my exam. But as i have got low scores in my usmle step 1
and step 2 exams i need to get some usa clinical experience in some
hospital to get some interviews of residency.so if i want to extend my
stay in usa even after my step 3 exam, are there any possibilities?.this
is
the second time i was issued B1/B2 VISA.first time was from october
2006 to oct 2007 multiple entry.during that period i came to usa
twice
and gave usmle step 2cs and usmle step2ck exams and passed.Iam also fed
up
with B1/B2 VISA as i can't stay in usa for more than 6 months at a
time,i
can't work.I have already travelled 3 times because of this.Is there
any
way to change my visa status to any other visa?.
thanking you

u need to sign a contract from the hospital either for fellowhsip or residency. then only u can change ur visa status n file for j1 or h1. or any research fellowships try in some hospitals.
