You will need a transit visa...

Just do a search for "transit visa" on this site and you should find the relevant information.

I posted in detail the requirements and the paperwork for the German transit visa a few weeks back.

My wife is planning to go to India in August from
Dallas, TX by Lufthansa via Frankfurt, Germany.

My question to you all is regarding transit visa.

She is on H4 visa (visa stamp on the passport) and
the visa expires on Aug 20th. She is planning to travel on August 9th.

Does she need a transit visa?.

The answer is no. Since she has valid visa til 20th and she is leaving before that, then she don't need transit visa this is what I got answer from France consulate

Defjam...

Make sure that you notarize the application form. Also include a notarized copy of the H4 and your wife's I94.

I had sent in 2 photographs because that is what the website mentioned, but they returned 1 photograph. So I guess they need only one, but you can send in two just to be on the safe side.

If you send in your application by FedEx/UPS so that it reaches them tomorrow or day after, my guess is that you should receive back your passports before the end of next week.

Thanks for the prompt response.
The staff at german consulate is very rude.

Should the draft be drawn in favour of german consulate , houston or any specific names?

I down loaded the from from there web site from the foll link

http://www.germany-info.org/relaunch/info/consular_services/visa/visaform.pdf

Is this the correct form

What do they mean by Schengen States?
I am not sure what to write in the foll qusetion nos.
15,17,18,19,22 thru 25.

Can we not applicable for stuff that does not pertain to us.

Appreciate ur time sir.

Make the cashier's check/money order payable to the Consulate General of Germany.

The link to the application form is correct. That is same form that I used. Schengen refers to a group of nations of which Germany is one.

As far as items on the application go, here's what I provided:

Item 15: Mumbai, India
Border of first entry: Frankfurt, Germany
Item 16: Transit
Item 17: N/A
Item 18: N/A
Item 19: I just wrote transit visa
Item 20: Mumbai, India
Entry Permit: Yes, Type: Indian Passport, No: Passport Num
Item 21: Cash
Item 22, 23: N/A
Item 24: Lufthansa Airlines

Hope that helps.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks CPMumbai

Thank u for the response.
How does the German consulate send the passports back?
How long does it take for the passports to reach us , once Visa is stamped.
Do they use fed ex or ups?

I will be mailing them the stuff today.

Regards
Defjam

They send it back by USPS Express Mail...

So it reaches you the very next day after it is mailed from the consulate. The consulate should not take more than 3 working days to issue the transit visa.

CPMumbai Thanks

I did get my transit visa stamped on the passport.
Thank u for the help.
