Uregent I-485

Every body please give an idea how long it should take to get back the receipt notice from date of filing of your I-485. I am asking about Vermont service center. Becasue my attorney filed my I-485 on 30th August 2000, but as of today I have not received any receipt notice.

Does any body has any clue? please share your experience.

Call up VSC and find out whether they recieved your I-485 application or not. There is no hard and fast rule.

Hi,

My I140 is approved and my I485 is current i.e.11/01/99. I am from NJ and my I140 is from VSC.

1. The first question is that right now I am in a project in California. So "can we (wife and me) take the medicals in California and send it to my lawyer in NJ; or do we have to go to NJ and do the medicals there? I still have a apt in NJ, and my company is in NJ and hence my I140 and I485 is done at VSC.

2. My wife was on H4 when my I140 was applied. But now she has her H1 and is working. We are planning to go to India some time in Dec/2000, Since we are going to file for our I485, and I have about 2 more years on my H1 and my wife has a new H1 for 3 years, what do you all recommed wheteher to apply for EAD or not?, what are the pros and cons. So in such a scenario if we dont apply for EAD, can we go out of the country with our H1 ? and return.....Please advice. Your response is greately appreciated.
