Updating my ss record

2 months ago i went to the SSA office in SF to update my record after i became a USC, i filled a form, when my number was called i went to the window , i gave the officer my US passport and the form, he scanned the passport, wrote something in his computer and told me its done

my question is

AM I GOING TO RECEIVE A NEW SS CARD OR A CONFIRMATION OF THE CHANGES TO MY RECORD?

HOW CAN I KNOW THEY CHANGED MY RECORD?

Unless you had a restriction noted on the Social Security card, there should be no need for a new one. The easiest way to find out whether the change was processed is to call them at 1-800-772-1213 and ask.

Yes, natur08 is right. I had the same experience. Just out of curiosity I called a few weeks ago and they confirmed the change had been done. I did go more than two years ago, but didn't call to verify until recently. Didn't see much of a need, but I just got curious.

No, Only if you change your name, new name but old SS number.
HOW CAN I KNOW THEY CHANGED MY RECORD?

I received yesterday a letter from the local SSA office confirming the status update and informing me that I should receive a new card within the next two weeks.
