Update from senator- file missing!

Got a call from the Senator's officer.. Due to excess handling required by extra security checks, my file has been misplaced!

The good news is that they keep scanned copies of the documents and needed my permission to start(!!) working on my file. Faxed back my permission.
Was told that my FP is valid till another 5 more weeks and my file should be processed by that time!!
I'll believe it when it happens.

It sounds great senators could help ...

Could you explain how this process worked ??
Did you send a letter ??
Then, what did you ask.. ??

Can you pl. explain the process how to approach your senator. What all doc. you send pl. explain. i'm waiting RD:9/07/01 with no RFE.
 
Procedure

My city manager's daughter is in the same class as my son.
I asked for his help.Went to his office one day and his office called up the senator's state office and put me in touch with a particular person. I gave my particulars and got a call back the next day.. I don't know if you will get the same response if you called directly.. In any case, try the senators local state office and not the DC office.
Earlier ,I had written letters too to the DC addresses and got a standard reply from both senator's office that they would follow up and update me bi-monthly.. must mean once in two months as I have not heard a thing from them in over a month.
