Upcoming trip and green card renewal

My wife booked a 1-week trip to Europe that's coming up in 11 weeks. We realized that her green card will come up to its 10-year renewal before then. She just filled out the I-90 form, and we realized that it may take a long time just get the biometrics appointment, let alone get the renewed green card. I have read that maybe some proof that she filled out the form is all she needs to board the plane and return, but some of the different sources were confusing and contradictory regarding if that's correct and exactly what she'll need. How can know what she needs exactly and be confident that there won't be a problem?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this.

The I-90 receipt serves as a 24-month extension letter, meaning that the I-90 receipt plus the expired green card together serve as a valid green card until 24 months after the green card expired. Does she have her I-90 receipt yet? If she filed I-90 online, I believe she can print it from the online account.

Thanks. Yes, she got some sort of email back, I think with a PDF. We'll print it out. Thanks for your help.
