Unrestricted SS card timeframe

Please share your expirience with replacing restricted SS card with unrestricted one.

I've been waiting for mine for 20 days with no outcome. Just called CIS regarding updating my info at SS office, they told me that there is no time limit to how long it may take them to respond!!!!!!!!!!!!! The guy I talked to also told me that if I wanted I could take a legal action to force CIS to act on it. Just wanted to know what the average time frame for the new SS card is?

3-4 weeks. You are ok.

3-4 weeks is rather minimal time that it takes SSA to issue new SS card. The rest depends on what country you are from and how common your name is. My unrestricted SS card arrives within a month. I'm lucky though to have a very uncommon combination of first and last names and a very knowledgable person who accepted my application for unrestricted SS card. Good luck with everything!

Mine took 2 weeks but my other family members took about 6 weeks becos SS Office needed to write a letter to INS to verify something..

mine was weird

I apply my ssn on feb 2000. I dunno whether it is a plain luck or what. My ssn doesnt say anything about "valid only with vbalbllbalblbal".

it didnt say anything on the top of my number.

just my name and my number.

that is why after my asylum granted, i dont see any reason for me to changed it into "unrestricted" ssn. coz mine already like that since the day I got it.

weird. yeah! definitely!.
