Unpaid in US while getting trained in India

I am on H1B visa and my home country is India. My company gave me training in India for about 5 weeks and during that time my company paid me in India in Indian currency but did not pay me in US.
Is there any US law which says I may not be paid in US during my training period in India? Do I need to file tax returns in US for the wages I earned in India?

No - none. It's up to the employer to pay you in US or India.

If you are filing as a resident, you will have to declare your worldwide income. However, you may qualify to deduct it under Foreign Earned Income. If you are filing as a non-resident, then you won't need to report it. Resident vs Non-Resident for tax purposes is not a choice you make generally. There's a test and it decides your status. State may not allow FEI deductions.
