Unique Situation about Affidavit of Support-Please help!

Hello,

I found this forum yesterday and think it is very useful. I sincerely hope that someone will be able to answer my questions. Sorry if I ask some too "simple" or "old" questions.

My situation is: My husband is US citizen and I am H1B. We just got married in June this year, but the bad thing is my husband just got laid off. We have household as "2". I want to know if my husband is still qualified to support me without other sponsors. He made more than $18,000 in the latest 3 tax years, not counting the income in 2011. From 2011 Jan. till now, he made more than $30,000, not including the unemployment benefits. It says that he can get $ 15,000 for the unemployment till next year at some point. He has a car and we have joint bank account. I am making $45,000 a year.

Since my husband is unemployed, I worry this is not a good time to apply. Can anyone tell me what we should do? Is he still qualified to sponsor me?

Also, do we have to mail all papers to Chicago? Someone told me that we can make an appointment to submit all papers. I am thinking if it is the "infopass". If not, what can "infopass" be used for?

Thank you!

Nana. E.

You are the intending immigrant and you have income from legally authorized employment, so you can use your income to meet the I-864 requirements. Just list your income in question 24(b) of the I-864, and attach supporting documents to prove your income (paystubs, W-2, tax returns/transcripts).

Thanks a lot for your reply! That's a great news for us!

What about all the documents and the "infopass"? Did anyone go and submit all documents instead of mailing?
