I did a stupidity of sending out spam emails to one person.
That person reported to the police and they are trying to put cyberstalking charge on me. I did not use any threat of violence, only it was obscene and vulgar emails.
Now, I read the immigration sites that stalking is a deportable offence under Domestic Violence. But, I live in CT and the other party is at OR .
This is also not a Domestic Violence because the other party was family friends (once upon a time) and I have no other relationship with that person.
Still the charges haven't been filed but Police has been threatening to put the charge.
Can someone clear my anxiety whether this is deportable and what are the alternate pleas available.

Sorry to hear this...
You need to definitely talk to a good immigration lawyer who is also familiar with domestic violence stuff.

Need advice

I was planning to consult with an immigration attorney after charges are filed. I also have a criminal attorney right now who told this is a easy matter and shall try to negotiate with DA's office while filing the charges (so that its not stalking).
