If I am using EAD --- Can one avail unemployment benefits.

If yes -- will the act of applying for unemployment affect the 485 adjucation -- as it will show that I am out of JOB.

Heh ... heh ... soon you'll have some H-1B holder asking for unemployment benefits !!!
 
No, I don't think anyone can obtain unemployment benefits while on EAD. EAD is just a permission to work in US, it does not signify the legal resident status. The status of an applicant with pending 485 and approved EAD is a Non-Resident. You are correct if you apply for the benefits it will prove that you're unemployed.
