Hello,
I got my green card 4 months ago, and if my company lays me off am I able to get Unemployment Benefit? If yes, how should I apply for that?
Thanks,
Yes, you could get unemployment benefits.
Each state's employment agency has offices across their state, and they most likely also have the info on how to apply online.
Is a person considered a liability on the 'state' when one applies to unemployment benefits? If yes, does it count against you when you apply for citizenship?
Also, can one get unemployment benefits even if one quits voluntarily?
Thank you very much for your responses. They are really helpful.
Just have two more question:
1. So only working 4 months under green card will not create any problem?
2. I live and work in NC, if I am laid off, I may want to go to CA near my sister, can I still apply for unemployment benefit, if yes, where in NC or CA?
Hello,
Thanks you very much for all your help. I have one more question. If I have a part time job and laid of from my full time job, am I still eligible to apply for an unemployment benefit or I am loosing that right since I will still be employed part-time.
