I have heard some say: it is an insurance that company pays and doesn\'t come
from the state. So nothing to do with the government. and you need to
have unrestricted work authorization which is EAD. And the UI office
checks with A number if one is ok to get it.
Anybody has come up with this situation?
The employer pays the unemployment insurance while you are an employee but it is paid out by the state. But I would stay away from even applying. Wait for you GC to be approved. There was a posting on this forum that some had their GC cancelled because they applied for unemployment benefit while 485 application was bending and he was out of a job.
