Hi everyone,

I'm working on the whole application to ship my hubby over here (I'm patiently waiting for him while I live in the US), and sent the i-130 in last week... fingers crossed. I'd like to prepare the i-864 paperwork ahead of time so that I have everything straightened out. I did not earn any money for the past year and a half, so my dad is very kindly join sponsoring my hub. I realize we both need to send in an i-864 each-- the confusing part is what paperwork that I need to send it. It seems that my dad would need the past 3 years' tax returns, proof of employment (company letter?), and some sort of pay stubs or perhaps documents showing the company deposits money into his bank account. However, I don't know what I personally need. I've been reading some people sent a letter explaining their unemployment. Do I also need my most recent tax return from when I did file taxes, or anything else? I super appreciate any information since I've had difficulty researching this bit. Cheers.

You need to attach your tax return for the last year, and provide the "total income" numbers from your tax returns from the last 3 years. If you did not file a tax return for any of those years, and you were not required to file in those years because your income was below the threshold, then you attach a statement citing the filing requirements for that year from that year's Form 1040 instructions, and explaining that you were not required to file given those requirements.
