Unchanged online status for old cases

The online status for old cases show various status. For some of us, it never changed from day 1. It still says, "Received on .... It takes between 570-600 days....". Even though there have been subsequent progress (like 1st FP done etc), it never reflected.

Now, after creating the portfolio, I observed the following.

My case details:

ND: 06/25/02
1st FP: 08/16/02

Last Updated date on USCIS: 08/14/02

Now, I am not sure what this 08/14/02 means. What did they update on that date? Obviously, my 1st FP has not been updated.

I had called FBI and they confirmed that they had sent the FP back on 08/16/02. But, USCIS never updated my status in their system. Now, as per their record, there is no info on 1st FP. Thus, there will be no trigger for FP expiry that may lead to 2nd FP notice.

Can you guys (whose status has not changed from day 1), check to see whether you have similiar Last Update date (Earlier that your 1st FP). Also guys who got their 2nd FP notices, can you please confirm that your Last update reflects that.

Thanks,
sk

I had the following interesting observation.

The EAD appliactions for me and my wife are different and are as follows.

My EADs:
1st: 02/04/03
2nd: 10/06/03

Wife's:
1st: 07/30/02
2nd:06/28/03

Applied her 3rd EAD last month. Today, I see it has been approved on 04/16/04. Have not received the EAD card. Once, I get her card, I can check to see if her FP availability shows up or not.

In the mean time, her status update now says, "On Jul 09, 03. FP was recieved. Case processing will continue.". Also, in her portfolio, the update date shows 04/19/04.

My status update is still same from day 1. My update is still the old 08/14/02.

Thus, I find that her 3rd EAD renewal triggered her status update with the FP message. As I do not have any change at this time, my status is unchanged.

Well my sisters case is exactly same as yours no update even though FP is compleated and FBI sent it over. She is sending a letter requesting for another FP notice.

2nd FP Notice trigger auto or manual

Just wondering what triggers a 2nd FP notice? Is it manual (IIO opens your case, sees ist FP expired, sends 2nd FP notice) or it it triggered automatically when your 1st FP expires?

If it is automatic, then the trigger is based on ist FP expiry which means if the 1st FP info is not updated in DB, you will not get 2nd FP. Does it work this way?

The 1st FP update occurs when you have AC21, AR11, EAD/AP renewal. (My wife's status updated to FP received... on her 3rd EAD renewal today). For cases without these events, there is no 1st FP update. Thus, is there any way to remind USCIS that 1st FP has expired and request them to send send 2nd FP notice.

Has any one requested USCIS for 2nd FP notice? I talked to my lawyer and she told me that she has informed USCIS about my ist FP expiry and requested them for the 2nd FP notice on 03/11/04. But, I have still not received any thing from USCIS for my 2nd FP.

me too

My receipt date is 12/9/2002, and having just signed up at the new site, I see that my case was last updated on 12/16/2002. That was one week later and hasn't been touched since. It is possible that I was mailed my 1st FP notice on that date, and I think I actually had it done in Denver in Feb. or Mar. of 2003.

While I find it a little troubling that they haven't updated my case with any FP info, I'm not too surprised. They were always very inconsistent in the way they updated the old-style webpage (some people seemed to get the expected updates to the case status, and others didn't).

interesting observation

skjun02 -

You raise an interesting point. I have been on an H1b the entire time my I485 has been submitted, so I have never had an EAD or AP. So this makes me wonder - has anyone ever observed a difference in I485 approval times based on whether an applicant works and travels with an H1b or an EAD/AP combination while the I485 is being processed. If it takes an EAD or AP renewal to have the case updated, I might have been better off going that route instead of staying on an H1b. I chose to stay on the H1b because it could be renewed for more than one year.

I dont think so

My case status shows last updated 8/13/2002.. Since then I have applied 3 EADs and 3 APs. Third one still being processed.

But who knows the workings of USCIS.

sallyseattle,

Your last update shows 08/13/2002. What does your case status say? Is it updated to FP or still says the same message from day 1.

When was your 1st FP done? Was it earlier than 08/13/02 or later? Did you receive any 2nd FP/RFE yet?

Same here:

AVM / online message still the same for more then 2 years:
"On April 10, 2002 ..." - 1st FP notice sent.
Same message for me, wife and son.

Since that date we had APs, EADs, 2ndFPs

In my portfolio:
Last Updated date: 08/13/02
(for each of us)

My guess: this date has little to do with a particular case, it is just some centralised database update.

Looks that the AVM system is of little use...

Same here

The AVM and online message same for 2 years, 1st FP notice sent.
Same for me, wife and son.

Since then we had: 1stFPs, APs, EADs, 2nd FPs

In my portfolio:

Last Updated date: 08/13/02
(same for all three of us)
